Board Members - 2007 to 2009
Chairman: Simone Iles
Simone is now serving her third term with the Marketing Association board, having previously served as a member for 2 terms (4 years). During this time she developed a detailed understanding of running this not-for-profit organisation and the opportunities it presents. She has previously served as Deputy Chair and chaired the Resource Management Committee.
“We have evolved the Association to represent the interests of the wider marketing community within New Zealand and to continue to be the voice of marketers in NZ. As Chairman of the 07/09 board, my intent is to develop strategies that will further strengthen this and to provide clarity of direction for the Association and its board, enabling us to define and measure success, and setting the vision for the future of the Marketing Association.”
Simone truly represents our members having spent many years in the marketing, direct marketing and advertising industries, both in New Zealand and the UK. She holds the position of General Manager Marketing and Strategic Planning for the Briscoe Group, which is listed on the New Zealand Exchange and owns the trading brands Briscoes Homeware, Rebel Sport, Living & Giving and Urban Loft. Todd Hunter
Todd Hunter is the General Manager of Marketing for Turners Auctions. He joined Turners Auctions in June 2006 to assist in bringing a new focus to the business. His mandate at Turners is very simple…get the business organised around the customer, clarify the strategic direction for the company and transform Turners into a marketing and sales driven organisation not an operational one.
Prior to this he was in the role of Segment Marketing Manager for New Zealand Post. He joined New Zealand Post in March of 2004 after spending 14 months in South America and Europe. At New Zealand Post he provided the strategic direction for the New Zealand Post group of companies on how they market to, develop solutions for and drive more value for the corporate and partner segments.
Prior to this he spent 8 years with Microsoft in senior sales, marketing and finance roles.
Todd is a member of the CA college of ICANZ. Outside of work Todd spends a lot of time on the Waitemata Harbour sailing his boat with his family.
Ant Rainger
Ant Rainger is Director of Rainger Connect, a specialist one2one agency with experience and expertise across a broad range of service, technology, new media and retail businesses. Current clients include TelstraClear and Goodman Property.
“As a board member of the Marketing Association I believe I can add experience, leadership and integrity to the management of issues, strategic planning and decision-making that will be required over the next few years. Whilst I believe the new Marketing Association has an excellent opportunity to provide a strong voice for the broader marketing community of New Zealand, I also believe it is the practitioners of One2One marketing, eMarketing and Direct Marketing that will also be looking for consistency, continuity and ongoing representation in the new Marketing Association.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Business degree (Marketing major) from Massey University plus nearly 25 years’ experience in advertising, direct marketing, web marketing and communications. During that time, I’ve successfully built and sold a business (Rainger Direct Ltd) and have worked for some of the world’s leading multinationals (including Ogilvy, Mojo, Publicis and DDB). I’ve worked extensively offshore, including nearly 10 years in Sydney and Melbourne, and have worked closely with many of New Zealand’s leading brands. I've also won the prestigious Grand Prix RSVP award (twice), tutored the NZ DMA Certificate course for 10 years (Wellington and Auckland) and was the NZ Direct Marketer of the Year in 1998.”
Zac Pullen
Zac is strategic partnership manager at leading New Zealand interactive marketing company Touchpoint. His involvement with the Marketing Association commenced in 2002, when he spearheaded the eMarketing Network (eMN) special interest group. In 2005 he progressed from committee member to chairman and in 2007 be became a national board member.
Zac’s sales and marketing career spans 20 years. The past seven years have concentrated Zac’s skills in online and digital marketing, and include roles for the search-engine marketing firm FirstRate and NZ Post subsidiary MessageMedia.
His creative and energetic style has involved him in positions across a range of industries, including property development, publishing, automotive, hospitality and media.
Working with radio and television sparked Zac’s interest in relationship marketing and led him to complete his CDM. Soon after, he traded media for the opportunity to set up a merchandising operation for Britten Motorcycles.
During his term with the eMN special interest group, Zac was instrumental in delivering industry learning events that consistently resulted in audience growth. He believes that quality education and events allowing marketers to connect with one another is vital to a flourishing industry.

Being a board member since 2006, he is a strong advocate of Marketing as a professional industry that adds value to business, as well having the role of representing the customers internally.
Toby is a creative thinker who is always searching for new ideas and insights to bring to his work and wants to share this with other professionals through contributing to the leadership and growth of the Marketing Association as it continues to broaden and grow.
Jen Rolfe
Jen’s passion and love of marketing began at University. She started out as a teaching fellow at the University of Otago and moved quickly into broadcast and non-broadcast television, new media (when new meant CDRoms!) and then into the world of agencies. Jen is currently General Manager Direct and Digital at Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand.
Jen has specialised in direct and digital marketing for the last 12 years – and has had the pleasure of working on many of New Zealand’s most successful businesses and brands. This time “on the floor” has afforded Jen the opportunity to see and experience the good,
the bad and the inspiring of great marketing in New Zealand.
“As a board member of the Marketing Association, I believe I can contribute to the strategic planning and development of the industry and participate more fully in an organisation I have always valued. I do believe that the time is now to really lead our business community on how the practices of marketing are changing and evolving, to be a source of inspiration and growth. I believe the Association is in the perfect position to do this.”
