What information should I put into my Work Wanted advertisement?
I suggest you include the following information in your listing to ensure all information is clear:
The subject line is important - you have to catch people’s attention with it:
- "Experienced marketing database specialist wants BIG company"
- "Creative Director wants work" (that’ll do the trick since you’re in hot demand!)
- "Marketing Grad Wants Intro into DM"
Clearly state what type of role you’re looking for and what type of company
- "Senior Product/Brand Manager for Top 200 Corporate"
- "Direct Marketing Manager in mid-sized Financial Services co"
- "Senior Account Manager in Wgtn based Agency - want big $$ too"
Provide brief details about your skills and experience
- Most recent/important/relevant first
- Highlight your achievements (don’t just list your responsibilities)
Have a current CV ready to email out, and send it as soon as requested
- Try and avoid adding your entire CV into your listing
- Instead, add some enticing information about yourself that makes you 'STAND OUT'
Use bullet points - it makes your personal information stand out
Provide at least one way to get in contact with you - email is best, include mobile number too.
- If you don’t want to be identified (ie you’re still working for someone) I suggest you create a temporary hotmail (or other free email) address.
- If you have an email address like sexybabe@hotmail.com, it doesn't reflect on you well so it may be better to set up another temporary email address for the term of the listing.
- Please have your email address (which you check regularly) be a real address
State when you can start
- "Available now"
- "Must give 4 weeks notice"
If you’re currently based overseas also state if you can legally work in New Zealand - ie. have work permit
