OCT 2006 - TUANZ October After 5s - Telecom, convergence and customer choice

October 2006 - Convergence in telecommunications is becoming a reality both in New Zealand and globally. The leading telecommunications providers all over the world are developing more and more converged services.

More importantly organisations, of all sizes, are developing a better understanding of what benefits converged technologies can bring to their business. They are therefore demanding more of them from their ICT and telecommunications providers.

In the business market Telecom has been leading the global thinking on convergence. Telecom began the path to convergence several years ago when they started planning their Next Generation Network and are well on the way to delivering customers fully converged services.

A lot of the discussion around convergence has centred on devices. Telecom believes the future of converged services is in giving customers choice about how and when they want to communicate, ultimately enabling them to always be connected - wherever they are, on whatever device they choose.

At the October TUANZ After 5s, Brett O'Riley (Telecom Corporate Marketing Manager) will discuss Telecom's roadmap to convergence.
