AUG 2007 - An Invitation to Our Forum: “Privacy and Technology in the 21st Century”
For the first time, the Privacy Commissioners in Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand have joined together to hold a “Privacy Awareness Week” from 26 August – 01 September. This is an exciting new initiative, enabling us to work together to encourage debate and heighten privacy awareness across all of our jurisdictions.
Here in New Zealand, one of our main events is a half-day forum on “Privacy and Technology in the 21st Century”. This will take place in Wellington, on the morning of Tuesday 28 August, in the Ground Floor Theatrette (cnr Waring Taylor St/Customhouse Quay).
The forum is divided into two main sections. The first focuses on identifying problems within the areas of privacy and technology, and the second on discussing solutions. As you can see from the programme, we have a range of truly excellent speakers, and there will be plenty of time for discussion and questions.
And the best news is that the forum is free of charge.
But registration in advance is essential – and first come, first served - so it is important to let us know as soon as possible. (The deadline for registration is Thursday 23 August, but we anticipate that we will fill the available spaces some time before that).
To register, please contact Sharon Newton on forum@privacy.org.nz or telephone her on 04 474 7590.
For further information on Privacy Awareness Week, a little closer to the time, go to our website at www.privacy.org.nz.
We look forward to seeing you at the forum!
