NOV 2007 - Marketing Association Gears Up For Leadership Change
The New Zealand Marketing Association is in the final stages of its search for a new Chief Executive and expects to announce an appointment pre-Christmas.
The Marketing Association is the pre-eminent business organisation for marketers and is recognised for its progressive training programmes and self-regulatory initiatives on behalf of marketers and advertisers. Its purpose is to encourage and develop the highest standards of measurable marketing in New Zealand.
Outgoing Chief Executive, Keith Norris said “Having been so closely involved with the Association over the last 20 years, I am very keen to see it thrive and grow. It’s time, I feel, for someone younger, with fresh new ideas, to take it to the next level.”
In Mr Norris’s view, the rapid rate of change in marketing communications makes this one of the most exciting areas of business in which to be involved. “I’m not disappearing off the scene altogether”, he said. “After helping my successor take over the reins, I will be actively involved directing self-regulatory activities and the Marketing Association’s new Advisory Service”. The proliferation of new legislation affecting business, and particularly marketing activity, has demonstrated the need for a members’ advisory service. The Association is also initiating dialogue with universities to develop courses to better meet the needs of business and to create more opportunities for senior marketers to assume corporate leadership roles.
