MAR 2009 - Changes to TVNZ's Advertising Regions to Extend Audience Reach and Cost Efficiencies

TVNZ has come to an agreement with Sky Television to restructure its regional advertising coverage, resulting in greater audience reach and cost efficiencies for its regional advertisers.

TVNZ will now have 100 percent coverage into the regions, providing advertisers with the opportunity to disseminate targeted, localised messages to regional New Zealand.

Under the planned changes, there will no longer be a regional advertising breakout on TV2, and the TV ONE regional break-out will be extended to the SKY and Freeview satellite platforms, giving access to additional households in each region.

In addition to this, the current Palmerston North and Wellington regional breakouts will be combined into one region, called Central.

There will no longer be a national digital-only region.

The planned changes to TVNZ’s advertising regions will come into effect on 28 June 2009.

TVNZ’s Head of Advertising Sales, Dave Walker, is delighted that TVNZ will once again offer full coverage into the regions.

“This is a direct response to our advertisers’ requests to reconnect with the regions. We are really excited to offer our advertisers’ greater potential audiences, with cost efficiencies.”

TVNZ’s advertising partners will receive letters within the next two days, outlining the proposed changes and  the benefits for advertisers.
